Animal Village “Richi” was founded by GSPSA
From the beginning of June 5, 2022, the "Georgian Society for the Protection and Safety of Animals" - GSPSA created and founded a protected housing area for domestic and wild animals named RICHI Animal Village.
The main mission of the village is to create appropriate living conditions for domestic (companion and farm) and wild animals, their protection, rehabilitation, and maintenance.
For this reason, in 2020-2021, the organization purchased land (Mtskheta, village Tsilkani), the total area of which is up to two hectares.
There are not many animal villages in the world, but there are a few. It is not a shelter. Practically, it is really a village (bounded territory) where animals live, and have their own plots, houses, and all the conditions necessary for a particular kind of animal. Naturally, animals are guaranteed food, veterinary services, and hygienic conditions. They have a much better environment compared to a shelter. An animal that is living in the village is considered to be owned by the organization (or is under its care and supervision) and is registered in our organization. In the village, the animal is protected, and there is no risk of returning to the street and euthanasia.
Nowadays, approximately 20% of the territory of the animal village is utilized where there are housing plots for dogs, walking, and entertainment spaces. As of January 1, 2023, 70 dogs and 2 cats live in the village. A certain number of dogs in the village have various injuries, these dogs were received from the surrounding areas of the Village, and 50 dogs were brought from the former shelter of GSPSA (Tbilisi - home for injured dogs).
It is possible to adopt the dogs living in the village, only under the condition and guarantee, that the future owner offers better conditions for the animal.
