Presentation of the 2015 annual activities report by the Animal Monitoring Agency was held at Tbilisi City Hall on February 8, 2016.
The Agency presented last year’s report. During the presentation Teimuraz Pkhaladze, Director of the Agency, noted that progress can be seen in improvement of animal care and population management-control with use of modern and humane methods utilized in developed countries.
Teimuraz Pkhaladze also presented analysis of municipal shelter activities and results of reconstruction. The Director of the Agency spoke about the problems caused by the existence of stray animals in Tbilisi, ways to overcome the problems and respectively focused projects.
According to Temur Pkhaladze, awareness raising among the population is critical. During presentation of the report the importance of launching the so called “Sanitary-Veterinary Cordon” was stressed out, which is preceded by the process of stray animals head count. Irakli Lekvinadze, Deputy Mayor of Tbilisi, along with representatives of the Animal Monitoring Agency and non-governmental organizations participated in the meeting held at the Tbilisi City Hall.
Georgian Society for the Protection and Safety of Animals (GSPSA) was represented at the meeting by Teimuraz Tsikoridze, Chairman of the GSPSA.
