On November 4th of 2009 Head of the city utility services Mr. George Lipartia met with the head of “Dog Organization Georgia” Mr. Ivo Bukhauzen and Chairman of “Georgian society for Protection and Safety of Animals” Mr. Teimuraz Tsikoridze. Theme of the meeting was tackling of the issues related with the transfer of the territory to “Dog Organization Georgia” for shelter and arrangement of the relevant documentation. Mr. George Lipartia provided verbal information on preparation of the documentation pertaining to the transfer of the territory and clarified that the documentation will be complete by the end of the November of this year. This will enable the non governmental organization to finalize the agreement with municipality on lease or other forms of territory transfer and start drafting of the shelter and its construction. Head of city service noted that the preparation of the document was delayed due to certain objective reasons, which impeded the procedures related to the territory transfer.
Teimuraz Tsikoridze noted on the meeting that the unclear reasons which impeded fulfillment of the municipality promise, creates problems to foreign donors and parties responsible for program completion. Impediment unfortunately caused certain distrust among different interested parties to the authors of the project. Invited parties expressed their hope that municipality will fulfill its promise in mentioned time frame and program authors will have a possibility to embody their plan.
In this scenario shelter for stray animals will start functioning in approximately three months and some unattended animals will find home in the new shelter.
