World Society for the Protection of Animals (WSPA) is the largest alliance for the protection of animals in the world. The goal of the organization is to improve animal welfare and eliminate animal cruelty in the world, WSPA cooperates with about 1000 member organizations in more than 150 countries. World Society for the Protection of Animals is the only organization for animal welfare, which has consulting status in UN and European Council. It also interacts with healthcare organizations on the issues related to the regulation of number of stray dogs.
WSPA headquarters has received information with corresponding rationale from the member and other non-government organizations from Georgia and immediately sent out the above mentioned letter to Tbilisi Mayor.
The Georgian Society for the Protection and Safety of Animals cooperates with World Society for the Protection of Animals. We think that Tbilisi Mayor should consider the contents of the letter and provided recommendations and make the only right decision - stop mass extinction of animals by commercial firms, which will have only negative results and resolve the issue in close cooperation with international organizations and using civilized forms and methods.
