But the recent heroism of one courageous pup proves yet again their love runs far deeper still.<\/p>\n<p>He literally laid down his life to save a little girl who mattered more to him than anything else.<\/p>\n<p>It all began earlier this week, when a fire broke out in the Baltimore, Maryland, home shared by Erika Poremski, her 8-month-old daughter Viviana and their dog, Polo.<a href=\"https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Captnure.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2966\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-2966 \" src=\"https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Captnure-500x282.jpg\" alt=\"captnure\" width=\"441\" height=\"249\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Captnure-500x282.jpg 500w, https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Captnure.jpg 563w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 441px) 100vw, 441px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"text_exposed_show\">\n<p>Erika had just stepped out to her car moments before the blaze began. She then raced back inside to rescue Vivian on the 2nd floor, but was held at bay by the fast-moving flames.<\/p>\n<p>Fortunately, the trapped child still had a protector \u2014 Polo.<\/p>\n<p>First responders from the Baltimore City Fire Department were quick to arrive, after which they learned of Vivian and rushed in to save her. That's when they found her, injured but alive.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Cakpture.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2965\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2965 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Cakpture-300x200.jpg\" alt=\"cakpture\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Cakpture-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Cakpture-520x345.jpg 520w, https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/Cakpture.jpg 564w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Alongside her was Polo. He had laid on top of her to shield her from the flames with his own body.<\/p>\n<p>Sadly, in the end, Polo could not be saved.<\/p>\n<p>Indeed, he died a hero \u2014 joining the hallowed ranks of other pets who've saved human lives.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The loyalty of a faithful dog is rarely tested beyond the daily companionship they so sweetly offer to the people who love them.
