{"id":512,"date":"2015-07-24T20:18:15","date_gmt":"2015-07-24T20:18:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/?p=512"},"modified":"2016-03-24T11:19:38","modified_gmt":"2016-03-24T11:19:38","slug":"illegally-incarcerated-brown-bear-cub-in-ushguli-lamaria-monastery-has-been-freed-by-the-department-of-environmental-supervision","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/en\/illegally-incarcerated-brown-bear-cub-in-ushguli-lamaria-monastery-has-been-freed-by-the-department-of-environmental-supervision\/","title":{"rendered":"Illegally incarcerated brown bear cub in Ushguli Lamaria Monastery, has been freed by the Department of Environmental Supervision"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On July 21st, 2015 - Samegrelo - Upper Svaneti DOES staff responded to a call received via\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/moe.gov.ge\/index.php?lang_id=ENG&amp;sec_id=3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Department of Environmental Supervision<\/a>'s hotline (153), and information spread via social media.<\/p>\n<p>The department staff discovered a brown bear cub, illegally captured and kept captive in Ushguli Lamaria Monastery, Svaneti Georgia.<\/p>\n<p>The cub was removed from the monastery and successfully released into the guarded forest.<\/p>\n<p>As a precaution and protection from poachers, the bear cub will be under constant surveillance and supervision of local forest rangers.<\/p>\n<p>Above information and video of how the cub was released into the wild, has been posted on Department of Environmental Supervision's official Facebook page on - July 21, 2015.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/s019.radikal.ru\/i644\/1507\/cb\/32810b88695e.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"240\" height=\"180\" \/>GSPSA was tracking this case since early July, by actively <a href=\"https:\/\/gspsa.org.ge\/illegally-incarcerated-bear-cub-in-the-ushguli-lamaria-monastery-svaneti-georgia\/\" target=\"_blank\">posting and sharing photos and videos on social media.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/bearingeorgia\/photos\/a.1420834601488179.1073741827.1420808021490837\/1614732692098368\/?type=1&amp;theater\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Facebook - GSPSA - Bear in Georgia<\/a><\/p>\n<p>On July 9, 2015 - GSPSA contacted the Department of Environmental Supervision in regards to this particular animal cruelty case.<\/p>\n<p>On July 19th 2015 \"Georgian society for the protection and safety of animals\" sent an official <a href=\"http:\/\/oldsite.gspsa.org.ge\/uploads\/attachments\/ceriligaremosdacvissaministros19.07.2015.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Letter <\/a>to the Department of Environmental Supervision, requesting legal and appropriate action to be taken immediately.<\/p>\n<p>GSPSA wants to thank the Department of Natural Resources and subdivision - the Department of Environmental Supervision for their quick and professional response.
