Bear cubs are alive

According to the information received from the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Management of Georgia, on July 28, 2019, police found two cubs without a mother which were  captured in a restaurant in the village of Variani and then removed. Bear cubs were founf from police close to  the village of Arbo (Gori municipality) in a free condition, 22km from the village of Variani.

An authorized official from the Department of Environmental Supervision of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Management of Georgia made the decision to move them  to the Bears Shelter, as it is practically impossible to obtain food and adapt to the natural environment without the mother.

Information about two captured bears in the village of Variani |(municipality of Gori) was published on the GSPSA's official website and Facebook page on  July 17, 2019.

The GSPSA was informed that materials from the Department of Environmental Supervision had been sent for investigation by the Interior Ministry.

The GSPSA will cooperate with the investigation in this matter, as the circumstances surrounding this fact are likely to arise, which will inevitably lead to legal action against offenders.
