GSPSA denoted International Homeless Animals Day for the first time in Georgia
On August 21, 2010 animals protection organizations society was denoted International Homeless Animals Day.
This day was established in 1992, in USA, on the purpose to protect homeless animals in shelters (for that time in shelters of many countries have foreseen liquidation of animals after some time in spite of their health). By activists of animal protection organizations were arranged public gathering with candles and pictures of animals. Animal protectors were protested cruelty attitudes to animals. And after, International Homeless Animals Day was recognized all over the World. Since, this day is denote in many countries of the World.
American non-government organization (International Society for Animal Rights - ISAR) was the first that announced this tragedy to the World. By ISAR was founded International Homeless Animals Day and it is denote on the third Saturday of August every year. About 35 United States of America and 14 other countries are denote this day. On August 21, 2010 GSPSA denoted International Homeless Animals Day for the first time in Georgia, on the territory of old hippodrome. There were attended a few animal protectors - seven person, in spite of this it is the first steps for Georgia, because animal protection sphere is a complicated question for our government and population. The Board Chairman - Teimuraz Tsikoridze appealed to animal protectors and declared: GSPSA is co-operate with ISAR and other international organizations on the purpose to stop cruelty attitudes to animals. With the participant of action were agreed the appeal to the Tbilisi Municipality in connection with International Homeless Animals Day, where was denounced the program of the Tbilisi Municipality to homeless animals, which considers annihilation of animals. The members of GSPSA made candles light in the shelter.
On August 23,2010 GSPSA has recieved official letter from ISAR, where defined desire of our future co-operation in animal protection sphere.
