On October 31, 2019, three dogs were killed in Tbilisi.
The owner of the slaughtered dogs was looking for his missing dogs for three days. Eventually, he found them thrown into a small ravine and already dead. The police summoned him.
According to the GSPSA chairperson who was at the scene, the dogs were killed by gunfire apparently at another location and then dumped in a ravine. The dogs were supposedly “sport hunting” for fun.
Animals killed by law enforcement were taken to the National Food Agency’s laboratory to determine the cause of death. It has been reported that the Ministry of Internal Affairs has launched an investigation into Article 259 of the Criminal Code of Georgia on torture and ill-treatment of animals.
