World Animal Day was observed in Tbilisi and Batumi on the 4th of October 2014

On April 4, 2014 in Batumi by the "Georgian Society for the Protection and Safety of Animals" - GSPSA was observed a stray animal's Day - April 4.

Every year, starting on April 4, 2011 the world celebrated the International Day of stray animals. April 4 - the day of compassion, care and support of homeless street animals - http://www.strayanimalsday.org/

More than 600 000 000 stray domestic animals around the world and they need attention and help. Dogs, cats, horses and donkeys should be able to certify to the house and took care of it, but there is a very large quantity of homeless animals in the world and they live on the street. They are concerned about the cold, the heat, lack of water and food. Often they are ill. Ownerless street animals are often persecuted by the authorities and population, they often become sacrifices of cruel and inhuman treatment. "The Georgian Society for the Protection and Safety of Animals" – GSPSA joined the World civilized society on April 4, 2014 and in Tbilisi and Batumi was marked the Day.

The event was held in the City Hall Square, in Batumi. In Tbilisi the April 4 was mentioned in Municipal Animal shelter by the "Georgian Society for the Protection and Safety of Animals" - GSPSA and by the Department of domestic and wild animals in the control and regulation of the Tbilisi City Hall Emergency and Urgent Situations Management Agency.
